Diamond Care

Diamonds are the hardest natural substance on earth, but they can still chip on sharp impact and attract oils and lotions that dull their brilliance over time.

Cleaning your diamond

• Soak in warm water with a few drops of mild dish soap for 20–30 minutes.
• Gently scrub with a soft-bristle toothbrush, paying attention to the underside of the stone where grease accumulates.
• Rinse thoroughly under warm running water.
• Pat dry with a lint-free cloth or leave to air dry on a clean surface.
• Professional ultrasonic cleaners are safe for diamonds in secure settings — check with us first if your ring has side stones.

Storage

• Store each piece separately in a soft pouch or lined jewellery box — diamonds can scratch other gems and metals.
• Keep away from direct sunlight and heat sources.

Gold Care

Yellow Gold & Rose Gold (10K, 14K, 18K)

Gold alloys are durable and resistant to tarnish, but they can scratch over time with daily wear. The higher the karat, the softer and more pure the gold.

• Clean with warm soapy water and a soft cloth.
• Polish occasionally with a jeweller's polishing cloth to restore shine.
• Avoid prolonged exposure to chlorine (pools, hot tubs) — it can weaken gold alloys over time.
• Remove before exercising, gardening, or heavy manual work.

White Gold (Rhodium Plated)

White gold is yellow gold alloyed with white metals and coated with rhodium for its bright white finish. The rhodium plating naturally wears over time and can be re-plated by a jeweller (typically every 1–3 years depending on wear).

• Avoid abrasive cleaners that wear down the rhodium coating faster.
• Clean gently with warm water and mild soap — no harsh chemicals.
• Store carefully to prevent scratching the surface coating.

Platinum Care

Platinum is naturally white, hypoallergenic, and extremely durable — it doesn't tarnish or fade. Unlike white gold, platinum develops a natural patina over time that many customers come to love for its soft, antique quality.

• Clean with warm soapy water and a soft brush.
• Have it professionally polished every few years to restore the high-shine finish if preferred.
• Platinum scratches easily but does not lose metal — it simply displaces it. A jeweller can buff scratches out easily.

General Jewellery Care Tips

Take It Off

Remove your jewellery before:

• Exercise and sport — impact, sweat, and gym equipment can damage settings and scratch metals.
• Gardening and manual work — soil and tools can scratch and chip stones.
• Cleaning and household chores — bleach and harsh chemicals damage metals and dull stones.
• Swimming — chlorinated pools weaken gold alloys; saltwater is equally harsh.
• Showering — soap and shampoo leave residue that dulls brilliance.

Apply Last

Put your jewellery on after applying lotions, perfume, sunscreen, and hair products. Chemicals in these products film over diamonds and dull their sparkle, and can react with certain metal alloys.

Safe Storage

• Use individual soft pouches or a lined jewellery box with separate compartments.
• Never store multiple pieces loose together — they will scratch each other.
• Keep away from extreme heat and direct sunlight.
